SAN JOSE, CA — Bay Area funk/blues/Latin jazz quintet Future Dead Ringers will return to the South Bay stage for two upcoming performances in downtown San Jose: Tuesday, July 28 from 6:00–9:00 PM at Last Round Tavern and Friday, August 1 at Good Karma Fine Ales Food and HiFi, continuing the band’s growing momentum after a successful appearance at the Levitt Music Festival on June 20.

The August 1 performance at Good Karma marks the continuation of Future Dead Ringers’ bi-weekly residency there, further building on the group’s expanding presence in San Jose’s live music scene. Both shows will feature acclaimed drummer Dave Flores, whose dynamic playing and deep groove have become a key part of the band’s recent live performances.

Led by Bay Area saxophonist Ken Moran, Future Dead Ringers blends funk, blues, and Latin jazz into an energetic, improvisation-driven live show. With a sound rooted in groove, spontaneity, and strong ensemble interplay, the band has been steadily building a following through club dates, residencies, and festival appearances across the South Bay.

Coming off their June 20 set at the Levitt Music Festival—where they opened for the John Santos Sextet—Future Dead Ringers are carrying that momentum into the second half of the summer. In addition to these upcoming performances, the band is preparing to enter the studio later this month to begin recording new material.

“These shows are a chance for us to keep building on what’s been happening live while also gearing up for the next phase of the band,” said Moran. “We’ve had a great run of performances this year, and with Dave Flores joining us again plus studio recording around the corner, it feels like a really exciting moment.”

Upcoming Performances

  • July 28, 6:00–9:00 PM — Last Round Tavern, Downtown San Jose

  • August 1, 9:30-11:30 PM — Good Karma Fine Ales Food and HiFi, Downtown San Jose

With a mix of original music, improvisation, and groove-heavy arrangements, Future Dead Ringers continues to carve out a distinct voice in the Bay Area scene—bridging jazz musicianship with the energy of funk, blues, and Latin rhythms.
