Our Story
Short Bio
Future Dead Ringers is a Bay Area–based jazz-funk project driven by deep grooves, bold saxophone lines, and a retro-futuristic edge. Led by saxophonist Ken Moran, the group fuses modern funk with vibrant improvisation and a high-energy stage presence. Featuring percussionist Dave Flores—also of the John Santos Sextet—the band draws on a rich mix of influences to create a sound that’s both forward-looking and rooted in tradition.
Long Bio
Future Dead Ringers are an emerging force on the Bay Area music scene—a high-energy jazz-funk quintet blending deep grooves, improvisational fire, and global rhythms into a sound that’s as bold as it is soul-stirring.
Comprised of five seasoned musicians with roots in jazz clubs, festival stages, and collaborative projects across California, the band brings a wide-ranging musical perspective to every performance. Among them is percussionist Dave Flores, known for his work with the John Santos Sextet—just one of many threads woven into the group’s collective voice. Together, they fuse classic jazz language with modern funk, Afro-Latin traditions, and blues-infused melodies, creating a sound that feels both timeless and unmistakably current.
Future Dead Ringers are, at their core, a live band—thriving on spontaneity, deep musical interplay, and the shared energy of the room. Whether locking into a heavy groove, stretching into open improvisation, or reshaping familiar material with unexpected turns, the quintet delivers performances that are dynamic, immersive, and alive in the moment.
Since emerging on the Bay Area circuit in late 2025, Future Dead Ringers have quickly become a must-hear act for jazz listeners, groove enthusiasts, and anyone drawn to music with heart, heat, and soul.
